What Is ESD Compliance?

With the increasing need for ESD Safe Storage solutions for your sensitive devices, it is important to understand the global standards that are associated with this and what to look for with compliance.

Many companies claim to have ESD safe storage products, but when the goods are manufactured with plastic fillers and non-pure materials it can sometimes be risky to trust certain products without appropriate compliance.

What are the ESD standards?

The key compliance measure is the EN61340-5-1 (2016). This standard outlines the key measurement requirements for a facility to test the resistivity of a plastic product.

For plastic storage products to be compliant with the global standard for ESD safety it is suggested that resistivity should stay below 1x10^9 ohms. However if the product can be brought down 1x10^3 ohms you can be assured that the product will be not only dissipative but also Anti-Static.

If you are interested in purchasing ESD safe storage products, insist that your supplier is compliant with the internationally recognised standard and ask what their resistivity levels are.

The Fischer Plastics ESD Safe range has been tested to a resistivity level of 1x10^3 ohms making the product compliant with the recognised standards. We have the ability to test each product and work with our material providers to verify the output.

Being an Australian owned and operated company that works solely with local suppliers for any non-Fischer components means that we are able to work with all parties involved and tailor our product range to suit any global standards.

As there is currently no Australian manufacturers of ESD safe storage parts that are readily available, reach out to Fischer Plastics today for all your ESD safety storage needs. We can work with your company to personalise your storage solutions.
